On behalf of our entire staff, welcome to Fairfield Animal Hospital. Our goal is to offer the highest quality veterinary care possible at affordable prices. We know people look upon their pets as members of the family. We feel the same. Fairfield Animal Hospital prides itself on being a complete animal hospital with both modern equipment and a caring, compassionate staff.
Our Staff
Sandra Harris, DVM
Dr. Harris was born and raised in Houston and now resides in Cypress with her husband, three children, one dog, and two cats. "When not working I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and scrapbooking."
Dr. Harris received her degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M and went on to attend the College of Veterinary Medicine there as well. She has been working in the Houston and Woodlands area since her graduation in 1997 and has been at Fairfield Animal Hospital since 2006. Her special interest is internal medicine.
Mike Hicks, DVM
Dr. Hicks started Fairfield Animal Hospital in 2001. Prior to this he spent three years at Animal Emergency Clinic Southeast as a critical care veterinarian. He has also worked in Lufkin and Bryan/College Station as a mixed animal practitioner. Dr. Hicks received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University-College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He received his BS degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Hicks is married to Denise and has three children, Justin, Casey, and Trey. "I enjoy spending time with my family, most any outdoor activity, Texas A&M football, and traveling to my children's ball games and tournaments."
Dr. Hicks has one dog, a 12 year-old Yellow Lab. His special interests include surgery, internal medicine, and wound care.
Christine Norton, RVT
Christine is a registered veterinary technician. She graduated from Tomball College in 2007 after completing her preceptorship at Fairfield Animal Hospital. "I chose this profession because of my passion for caring for animals as well as my interest in veterinary medicine. I enjoy our patients and visiting with their owners." She has three children and enjoys hiking and dirt bike riding.
Julie Arriaga, RVT
Julie is a registered veterinary technician and a 2002 graduate of Tomball College. Her hobbies include gardening and playing with her 9 dachshunds (Duke, Layla, Murphy, Sebastion, Munro, Winston, Indie, Mollie, & Astro) and 1 ferret (Bazzle). Regarding her chosen profession she says, "I get to play with dogs and cats daily. Most show excitement to see you!"
Rachel Reisdorf, Veterinary Assistant
Rachel is currently a student at Cy-Woods High School. Her hobbies include running, cooking, and reading. She has 3 pets, a Yellow Lab and 2 cats. "The best thing about my job is assisting the doctors with appointments".
Lindsey Shogren, Client Care Specialist
Lindsey was born and raised in Wasilla, Alaska. She moved to Texas in September, 2006 to pursue a degree in veterinary technology. She is currently enrolled at Tomball College with aspirations to enter their veterinary technician program and graduate as a registered veterinary technician. She has a 4 year-old Boston Terrier named Sprite. "Sprite and I go to the dog parks most every weekend to play ball. When I have spare time I enjoy training Sprite new tricks and reading a good book."
Allison Engbrock, Client Care Specialist
Allison is one of our most recent acquisitions. Her engaging personality is sure to make any visitor to our practice feel most welcome. She is married to husband Roger and they have one daughter, Audrey. Her dog Abby and cat Sam complete her family. During her free time she enjoys going to the coast, spending time with her family, camping, and "do it yourself" projects on her house.
Jennifer Knichel, Veterinary Assistant
Jennifer actually serves multiple roles for us. She has been employed at Fairfield Animal Hospital for over 5 1/2 years and can truly do it all. "As a little girl, I always knew I wanted to work with animals, to help the ones who can't help themselves. When not working I am busy raising my two beautiful children, three if you count my playful, energetic dog Asia". Her family enjoys anything that takes them outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and mountain biking.
Matthew Hunsaker, Kennel Assistant
Matthew is currently a Junior at Cy-woods High School. He enjoys playing soccer, reading, and building computers. The best thing Matthew likes about his job is the great diversity of cats and dogs that he gets to interact with. He has two dogs Copper and Oreo.
